After arriving in Port Hardy on north Vancouver Island the afternoon of August 30, we explored the sights. We decided to stay the night in the BC Ferry parking lot.
There were a few people without reservations hoping to get on the boat. However, all vehicle spots were fully reserved. The ferry personnel efficiently got everyone loaded. The ferry departed Port Hardy at 7 a.m., destined for Prince Rupert.

Departing Port Hardy on the ferry
Initially the scenery was typical West Coast stuff.

The further north the ferry went the more scenic it became. Aside from enjoying the scenery there was not much else to do other than eat in the ferry's restaurant.

We visited our pets during each scheduled access to the car deck. During each 20 minute visit there were numerous dogs strolling about on leash doing their pee/poo on the hard surface of the deck. On a 15 hour boat ride there are not many options for a dog. Our cat enjoyed her litter box.

Closer to Prince Rupert, the ferry entered into the channel
The mountains oozed up from the water and in places the fog provided a surreal feeling.

The ferry arrived in Prince Rupert at 10:30 pm. We were fortunate to be one of the first ones off the ferry and first in line for our campsite reservation. The folks at the campground were very efficient at getting everyone registered and bedded down for the night.
