on the Alaska Highway

Because we have visited Whitehorse many times, it is now just a quick stop for us, to restock the shelves and clean up. This we did, and then headed out at about 4 p.m., knowing it was just a couple of hours of good highway to Haines Junction.

Leaving Whitehorse, the scenery is rolling hills.

There are numerous ranches and outfitters located west of Whitehorse.

Approaching Haines Junction, the hills grow into mountains. The evening was warm and the skies blue, so it was a perfect time to be driving north.

Before Haines Junction there is a very long straight stretch. It seems to go on forever.

A left curve near Pine Lake Yukon Gov't campground turns travellers towards the Kluane Range. The mountains provide a lovely backdrop as vehicles head west.

Tonight we decided to stay in a commercial campground owned by people whose kids I grew up with in Beaver Creek. Kluane RV Park is similar to most other commercial campgrounds in the north.

We usually take a spot away from others so our dogs have room to move. Most of the others were parked in a row near the main office, likely hoping to access the Wi-Fi from their rigs.
