Whitehorse to Haines Junction, Yukon
on the Alaska Highway

31 August 2009 - Monday

We have visited Whitehorse many times and is now just a quick stop to shop and clean up.
Left at about 4 p.m., knowing it was just a couple of hours to Haines Junction.

Leaving Whitehorse, the scenery is rolling hills.

There are numerous ranches located west of Whitehorse.

The evening was warm and the skies blue, so it was perfect to be driving north.

On the Alaska Highway driving from Whitehorse to Haines Junction

Before Haines Junction there is a very long straight stretch.

A left curve near Pine Lake Yukon Gov't campground turns travellers towards the Kluane Range. The mountains provide a lovely backdrop approaching Haines Junction.

We decided to stay in a commercial campground owned by people I knew from Beaver Creek. Kluane RV Park is similar to most other commercial campgrounds in the north.
