This was day 3 of a 4 day car trip from Vancouver to Whitehorse with my niece. We were tenting it rather than being in an RV. This was my niece's first trip to Yukon.
Today was a GREAT day for wildlife. This section of the
Alaska Highway is amazing.
First we saw this very calm Thinhorn Sheep.

Close up and personal

Then some wood bison. These creatures are massive!
Well, except for the cute little young ones!

Next was a black bear but because I was driving and it was quick, I didn't get a picture.
Then the highlight of the day near Iron Creek Lodge, a grizzly sow with two of the cutest cubs. The family was enjoying the fresh dandelion greens alongside the highway.

The blonde cub stayed fairly close to mom grizzly

The darker coloured cub was a real rascal, running hither dither on
its own

Blondie again, looking very cute

This evening we stayed at the Watson lake Yukon gov't campground. A very nice spot. Even though it was the Canada Day long weekend there were plenty of sites available at 7 p.m. when we arrived.
