It rained hard during the night. It was raining in the morning when we woke up too. It was very wet! After a quick morning walk with the dogs, we headed out. It was impossible to take decent pictures because it was raining too hard.
The road was slick too. In places it was soft, VERY soft.

Leaving Ethel Lake in the rain
As we continued north on the Klondike Hwy the rain continued with thick overcast skies.

Further north, the skies began to brighten. This cheered us up considerably!

Heading northward on the North Klondike Highway
The rain came and went. In places the highway was damp from recent rain showers.

Some overcast, some rain, some clearing
As the highway turned westward, the skies became more blue.

Highway
It was refreshing to have clear skies again! Upon reaching Dawson City, we figured the dogs deserved a walk and some exploring. There's a nice waterfront trail along the Yukon & Klondike Rivers. Kodi enjoyed dipping his toes and a cool drink.

Apparently some Shar Pei aren't fond of water. Not so with
Kodi, who is a Traditional Shar Pei

We have visited Dawson City many times before. If you're interested in seeing images of most of the sights here, please visit my Dawson City page.

Each visit I check the Strait's Auction House building. It has
changed significantly since 1986 and 2008. See
here for more pictures of the
changes through time
A quick drive by the Robert Service cabin too ...

The Yukon River campground suits us so we took the ferry across. After settling in, it was time to walk the dogs. North of the campground along the river there is an paddlewheel "graveyard". We first visited this spot in 1986. Each year the boats have collapsed more.
It appeared someone had been busy building some log pole structures along the waterfront.

There were numerous tent campers on & along the waterfront. Some seemed to be full-timers, possibly unable to find accommodation in Dawson City. Some were smoking & drinking. We minded our own business, nodded greetings and carried on by.
The evening was pleasant back at the campsite. Tomorrow we hoped for clear skies for one of our favourite drives, across the Top of the World Highway.
