I wasn't quite speechless this evening, but almost.
Instead I kept muttering, "Wow! WOW!"
The aurora borealis display was absolutely amazing.
My head was spinning as I watched the lights shift quickly.
The tripod was also getting a good workout as I moved about the
property and also turned north, south, east and west. Usually
the
lights are visible to the north and east.
On this evening,
the lights
were in all directions!
According to http://spaceweather.com/ the geomagnetic storm resulted in more red in the lights. Early in the evening the redness was visible, diminishing as time passed.

This formation was likened to a giant butterfly by a friend

The butterfly shifted

The butterfly collapsed into a swirl of colour very quickly

Streaks danced

To the northwest a brilliant green band appeared

This band moved very quickly

My impression is of an eel swimming by

Subtle reds

The red diminished

The colours relaxed
By 8:30 p.m. the sky had become more quiet.
