The forecast was for good northern lights so I set the alarm for 12:30 a.m. When it went off I did NOT want to get out of bed. After a few minutes, I crawled out and looked through the window. AH!
By the time I was dressed for outside with the camera and tripod ready, the lights had settled a bit. But I went outside anyway.

There was a lot of red in the sky initially

Some lights appeared to the west

Above the cabin to the north (that's a cabin window lower left)

Much variety in the shapes

Then to the east

The lights seemed to be settling down at about 1:30 a.m. so I went in. Downloaded the shots to my computer and shared some on social media. Just before 3 a.m. I figured I'd hit the sack but took a look outside. Darn!
Out I went again for the most AMAZING display!

More to the east with some clouds for contrast

Northwest

South! Don't often see them that way

Looking directly UP !

West

West...was Mother Nature trying some skywriting?

Southwest

South, looking up Kusawa Lake valley
At 3:30 a.m. I went in again. I was tired so didn't look at the images. Just went to bed. When I looked at the shots the next morning, wow! A good night!
Can't remember that last time I was awake from 12:30 to 4 a.m. though. Sigh...
