When I saw this bear from a distance, I assumed it was a blonde grizzly. As I drove by on the Alaska Highway I realized it wasn't a grizzly so did a quick U-turn and took pictures while sitting in my car. It likely tolerated me due to the dead animal in the ditch.
Alaska Fish and Game confirmed that this is a Glacier Bear.
Apparently sightings of Glacier Bears are rare in Yukon. Canadian
Geographic magazine (Jan/Feb 2019 edition) refers to my sighting of
this rare bear.
