During our September 1997 motorhome tour we had a spare day while in the Haines Junction area. On a whim, we stopped at the airport to see if anyone was around.
A TransNorth helicopter pilot was killing time between charters; he had dropped some folks off in the bush in the morning and was to go back late in the day to pick them up. We asked if he would take us for a flight, and he agreed to an hour long 'hop' for $600.
He flew us west of Haines Junction, along the Alsek River, which flows through Kluane National Park. These are some of the pictures from that flight.
In August 2000 we went on a two-week rafting trip on the Alsek River, from Haines Junction, Yukon through the tip of British Columbia, and ending at Dry Bay, Alaska.
