We woke to fresh snow on the mountain tops and a slight overcast.
The north end of the Cassiar is a two-lane paved road with no
paint lines.

Cassiar Highway southbound from Boya Lake to Meziadin Junction -
July 2008
We arrived at the Meziadin Lake Provincial Park campground in the late afternoon. After setting up, we decided to whip into Hyder to enjoy fish and chips at "the bus". The drive to Stewart was quite exciting. We saw nine bears, including a ma-bear with two cubs.

Between Meziadin Junction and Stewart there is a turnoff towards the south. The road leads to a very pleasant recreation site that would fit small camping units. Of course, there are no hook-ups. There is also a sign warning of bears.

There is no customs office entering Hyder AK. However, when leaving Hyder to return to Canada, you must clear Canadian customs.

Not to be missed, "the bus" in Hyder. Best fish and chips
west of Stewart!
The Fish Creek "bear viewing platform" is past "the bus". We did not visit the bear area this trip as we were there late in the day in the spring. However, we did visit in September 2007.
