The morning was clear and bright.
Each morning the dogs enjoy a walk and this morning was no
exception.

Ursa and Kodi were both alert for bears, only this was a squirrel
that caught their attention!
After packing up at the campsite, it was time to meander our way home. The plan was to stop and stroll often. First stop was at a large rest area alongside the shores of Kluane Lake.

We pulled into the parking area for Soldier's Summit, where the Alaska Highway was officially opened in November 1942. The well-groomed trail to Soldier's Summit provides great views of Kluane Lake. We also explored a bit off the trail.

Past Soldier's Summit the old highway grade continues.
Eventually a magnificent view of the Slims River valley presents
itself.

After a nice lunch we continued southward on the Alaska Highway.
The mountain ranges continued to impress with the brilliant blue
sky.

On a sunny day, the views cannot be beat!
It was enjoyable to get out for a night. This time of year there is 24 hours of daylight in this area. It is easy to lose track of time and not eat or sleep on schedule.
